N28 Upgrade Suspended
Posted by David O Byrne on July 13, 2010
The N28 is the main road linking Ringaskiddy and Carrigaline to Cork City. The upgrade scheme which was to involve 13 km of dual carriageway has been suspended by the National Roads Authority due to government cut backs.
The N28 upgrade had been identified as an essential project for the development of Cork Harbour’s potential for jobs and leisure. Upgrading critical infrastructure like this must be made a priority. Everyone knows that industry, jobs and prosperity follow good infrastructure.
Ringaskiddy is home to some of Ireland’s biggest export employers and Carrigaline is Ireland’s biggest commuter town. The suspension of this project is further evidence of where County Cork is on this government’s priority list.
